You’re Sensational in 3D: coming next ~ The Untouchables

Technology has been granted the gift of multi-dimentional sight, a new pair of eyes to watch your every move, not just in 2 dimentions, but all three.

PCs, tablets, laptops, phones, various robots, and a plethora of other devices now have the ability to sense, and all eyes are on you. Watching how you move, what part of your body, to determine what it should do next.

Israeli-based PrimeSense makes the magic happen. Their initial sensor, called Carmine, is best known as the Xbox 360 Kinect, seen here:

The newly redesigned version is called Capri. The module itself is 10x smaller than Carmine, which will allow it to find uses into the mobile space as well. As you can see below, the core circuit board is incredibly small.

Capri is scheduled to be available in mid to late 2013 for companies able to purchase a minimum of 100k annually, and integrate into their products.

What does this mean for you? Well right now the trend is toward touchscreen devices. In the future, we will be able to gesture in mid air, and our electronic devices will be watching us for instructions.

Some will definitely feel that technology watching them is on the creepy side, others will embrace the technology.

The next time you see someone waiving their arms around, they may just be making a phone call.
